International Expeditions CFO Elaine Woolsey just accompanied guests on our Wings Over the Nile journey. Follow the adventures of Elaine and her daughter Stephanie as they explore Egypt and Jordan.

I have had the privilege of working with IE throughout its corporate lifetime and have been able to travel for business and pleasure to destinations such as the Amazon, Costa Rica, Belize, Machu Picchu, Galapagos and Greece. Each and every expedition was a unique experience and beyond my expectations.  So, as a lover of antiquity, when I was given the opportunity to travel to Egypt and Jordan on our Wings Over the Nile tour, I pounced on it. And, to make this a truly fulfilling journey, I was able to take my eldest daughter, Stephanie, as my traveling companion on this Egypt vacation.

Mena House in CairoI knew this trip was destined to be spectacular as soon as I walked into our room at the Mena House and saw an awe-inspiring view of the Great Pyramids of Giza out the balcony window. You should have seen my face!  On our first full touring day, our group of 31 met our IE Travel Director, Tarek Amin, and our IE help desk staff, Hassan. I can't brag enough about these guys! Their hard work made the entire trip seem effortless and seamless: from luggage handling at hotels and airports, "negotiating" with on-site guards for close drop off and pick up points, speedy security checks, to one-on-one personal services. This was also the day that we connected with our Egyptologist, Bassem Salah. I use the word connected purposely, as I believe we all felt this way toward him throughout our Egypt tour. He was personable, knowledgeable, well-organized and earned our attention and trust.

The sites! All were literally and figuratively larger than life. The on-site explorations of the Great Pyramids, the Solar Boat, the Sphinx, the colossus of Ramses II at Memphis, and the step pyramids and tombs of Sakkara, filled our first few days. Oh, I can't forget to mention the camel rides and that I was offered 200 camels for my daughter.

Next Installment: Elaine and Stephanie head south to Abu Simbel, where Elaine is once more tempted to trade her daughter for camels!
