Climate
The Iquitos area is located a few degrees south of the equator and is characterized by strong tropical sun and rainforest. Average temperatures range from the upper 70s to upper 80s F year around during the day, to the lower 70s at night. It can be cool on the river at night or on overcast days. There is very little seasonal variation between winter and summer temperatures. The average humidity ranges from 60-80%, and rainfall occurs approximately 250 days out of the year. Most showers occur in the late afternoon or evening and are of short duration. Lima temperatures vary from 50-65° F between June and August.

Boats
The transfer boats from Iquitos to the lodge are covered boats with benches running down each side of the boat. The boat is equipped with life preservers, radio and toilet. Smaller 10 or 20 seat, open-air excursion boats are used for activities on the river.

Activities/Physical Condition:
The most physical activity is walking. Each day you may walk at a slow pace anywhere from 1 to 2 miles at one time. Trails can be muddy and slippery. You must be in good enough physical condition to walk at least 2 miles at a slow pace and have good footing due to trail conditions.
