On this Arctic journey to East Greenland, Iceland and Spitsbergen, travel north of the Arctic Circle — setting foot in places few humans have ever gone. Along with an infinite variety of ice and glaciers, fjords and snow-capped mountains, on this Arctic expedition we’ll look for musk oxen, walruses, seabirds, foxes, reindeer and whales — and the greatest prize of all, polar bears. Sailing the ice edge, we’ll also lower Zodiac landing craft for a chance to cruise among the icebergs and go ashore. Hike in the polar desert of Svalbard; walk through the lush vegetation of East Greenland, tour areas where the fall colors will be starting to turn; or stroll the streets of Heimaey, a town evacuated just decades ago to save residents from volcanic eruptions. You’ll gain a greater appreciation for the wild variety of landscapes and conditions present on these remarkable islands.
