Days 1 & 2
U.S. / Nairobi

Depart the U.S. for Nairobi, where we stay at the Nairobi Safari Club. (Meals Aloft)

Day 3
Nairobi

Greet your first full day in Kenya with a hearty “jambo” (Hello in Swahili) and tour Nairobi. Begin the day with a visit to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where sick and abandoned elephants are cared for before being released back into the wild at Tsavo East National Park. From there, head to the Karen Blixen Museum, seeing where the author lived while writing Out of Africa. Visit the Giraffe Center, also known as the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya, a program providing free environmental education to Kenya's youth and giving visitors close contact with giraffes. Enjoy a memorable lunch at the Carnivore, an open-air restaurant where meats are roasted on tribal swords, before an afternoon at leisure. The rest of your Kenya Safari group arrives this evening. (B,L)

Please Note: 2011 Nairobi extension guests will also visit the Giraffe Center, also known as the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Kenya, a program providing free environmental education to Kenya's youth and giving visitors close contact with giraffes.
