Expedition Leader

Charlie Babault

Guide Charlie Babault is the son of a naturalist and adventurer who married a general’s daughter in Kenya. The family followed the great herds across Africa, counting Kamba trackers, cooks and drivers among their extended family. His father’s passion for wilderness and mother’s artistic eye guided a love for all things natural, and instilled an appetite for adventure.

Charlie loves to explore the world’s wildest places – setting camera traps for snow leopard on the Masagang Glacier, tracking tigers in Suklaphanta and canoeing up to elephant on the Zambezi River. However, he is as passionate about the wild herbs and flowers, and remote untouched peoples. Above all, he has a desire to share these places, the people and wildlife.

Charlie is married to a Burmese woman, who is also a guide in the country, and has travelled Myanmar extensively. He is expert in local wildlife and an avid birder. That, combined with his knowledge and understanding of the local cultures, makes him a perfect leader for IE’s Myanmar tours.
